Movi Hiit
abstract
A randomized controlled trial was designed, including 465 schoolchildren from 9 schools (both rural and urban areas) in the province of Ciudad Real, Spain. Five schools were randomized to the intervention group, where the children participated in the Movi Hiit intervention, while the other four schools were assigned to the control group. During an academic year, children in the intervention group (IG) performed two daily active breaks consisting of 5 minutes of exercise based on high-intensity interval training (alternating periods of high-intensity exercise with rest periods, using the 20″/10″ method) through a virtual platform guided by avatars.
The platform is based on gamification and offers the possibility to track progress and earn rewards.
